Little Focker's

Little Focker's is the third installment in the "Meet the Parents" series. Staring Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, Blythe Danner, Barbra Streisand, Owen Wilson, Jessica Alba, and Dustin Hoffman.

So if you are thinking that this will be a good film for the whole family, including the little ones, you would be mistaken. That is what I first thought when I saw the preview. It's "Little" Focker's, right? It's about the kids, so kids should be able to watch it, right? Wrong! Well, my friend had the same idea I did, so when she asked me if I wanted to go see the movie with her and her kids, I said "Sure!". So we went, both us needing a good laugh, instead we were cringing the entire time at the amount of "mature nature" of this movie.

I thought the movie was funny and cute, but at the same time cheesy. If you need a laugh it's good, but I recommend waiting to for DVD. And again not for little kids.

The Lost Boys

So, I know this is a weird movie to start my Movie Madness. I would've thought it would be something like Schindler's List or Sophie's Choice. But this is one of my mothers favorite movies and she had gotten it for Christmas. I had never seen this movie, and this is the 1st movie that I watched that I had not seen before in the new year.

So if you don't know what this movie is about, it's about vampires. Now since the outbreak of Twilight I have kinda of stayed away from vampires. But this is way before Twilight, 1987 to be exact. The film stars Kiefer Sutherland, Diane Wiest, Ed Herman, and Jason Patric.

So this teenager Micheal (Jason Patric), his mother (Diane Weist), and his little brother Sam (Corey Haim) move  to a small town in California, in with the boys grandfather (Barnard Hughes). The town is a little hinky right off the bat, stating on the back of a billboard that it is the "murder capitol of the world".

So to make a long story short, teenager falls into bad crowd because of hot girl, and becomes "half a vampire", because he drank the leader of the gang's (Kiefer Sutherland) blood. His little brother finds out, and with the help of two comic store nerds goes and kills all the vampires, because for Micheal to turn back to normal the "head vampire" has to die. Oh and the hot girlfriend is also a vampire. Anyway after Kiefer Sutherland's character is killed, you find out that he is not actually the "head vampire", but Micheal's mothers boyfriend (Ed Herman) is. And then he is killed by the grandfather who runs his truck through their livingroom, impaling Ed Herman. So everyone lives happily ever after. No more vampires.

So if you are looking for a semi-horror movie, with some comedy thrown in, I highly recommend The Lost Boys. Oh, and the soundtracks pretty bitching too. So to wrap things up, this film gets 3 1/2 out of 5 Mandy Movie Madness Stars.

My Mission....

Hello!
My name is Mandy. And I have a mission, a mission to watch 365 movies that I have not watched before, in 365 days. Does this sound familiar? Well, you may have heard a similar story from a movie called Julie&Julia staring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep. I got my inspiration from that movie. You see in Julie&Julia Amy Adams character decides that she needs to "do something" with her life, and when she finds out that one of her very successful friends has started writing a blog about her fabulous life, she declares that she could write a blog, because "she has thoughts". But she doesn't know what to write about, and her husband suggests that she writes about cooking, since that is what seems to help her to relax, and interests her. She retorts by saying shes not a "real cook, like Julia Child or Mario Batali,", but if she really wanted to write a blog she could cook her way through Julia Child's cookbook and write about that. She gives herself a deadline: One year.

Ok, so heres my story. I am in a place in my life that I feel like I have no idea what to do with it. I have no real career, no romantic life, and I have cats. I wanted to give myself something to look forward too. I am not a very good cook, so cooking my way through Julia Child's cookbook, is not really an option for me. But what I do love, is movies. To me a good movie is like a beautiful piece of art. I drive friends and family crazy with constant quoting and trivia about movies. So this is what I decided to do: watch 365 movies that I have NOT seen before in 365 days, and then write about them on my blog.

Now, you're probably thinking, "What's so special about that? Anyone can be a couch potatoe and watch a movie," That is true. I am not claiming to be doing anything special, my blog won't be turned into a movie, and that's ok, I just want to write about movies, and have fun watching them.  So here I go....
